Confidentiality and the internal auditor

The course addresses the 2017 IPPF Standards. The IPPF is in transition, with the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards becoming effective from 9 January 2025.

Retiring 30 August 2024. Those registering up to that day will have access for 90 days.

The International Professional Practices Framework is fundamental to your role as an internal auditor. This course gives you a grounding in the framework.

The course provides an overview of the mandatory requirements for internal auditors with regard to confidentiality that are included in the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). Some of these requirements are set out in the Code of Ethics, whilst additional specific requirements are contained within the Standards.


What will I learn?

 After completing this course, you will be able to:  

  • analyse situations using tools such as the IPPF to manage ethical dilemmas relating to confidentiality
  • suggest the actions you would take in the face of challenging ethical dilemmas relating to confidentiality. 

Who should do the course?

  • All internal auditors: This course will help you understand the ethical dilemmas you may face, and suggest ways you can deal with them.

What will I do?

The course comprises two modules and a quiz. After you have completed all these components, including achieving 80% on the quiz, you will be able to download your certificate of completion.

You have 90 days to complete the course; however, it should not take you more than one hour to complete.


Technical requirements

The course is online so you will need access to an internet-enabled device. All the material is written and responsive so displays well on any device. However, you will need a laptop or PC with a mouse to complete some of the quiz questions.
